Hjalmar Christian Reinholdt Knuthsen

Hjalmar Christian Reinholdt Knuthsen (born June 26, 1859 in Sønder Jernløse , † around 1940 ) was a Danish inspector of Greenland .

He was the son of Pastor Theodor Knuthsen and Anne Rosine Krumm Keyser. His sister Ida Nina Elisabeth (1846–?) Was married to the pastor and missionary Peter Christian Jensen (1841–1899). On September 7, 1880, he married Augustine Margrethe Stybe (1854–?) In Qasigiannguit .

In 1872 Knuthsen came to Greenland at the age of 13 and volunteered in Qeqertarsuaq , Appat and Ilulissat . In 1880 he was employed as an assistant in Ilulissat. In 1881 he was appointed administrator in Appat. In 1882 he took over the inspectorate for North Greenland from Sophus Theodor Krarup-Smith and was replaced in 1883 by Niels Alfred Andersen . In 1885 he was colonial administrator in Aasiaat . In 1903 he was the leader of a mineralogical expedition in North Greenland.

From 1906 to 1909 Knuthsen was chairman of Det Grønlandske Selskab . In 1940 an obituary for him appeared in the Society's annual journal.
