Carl Caspar Friedrich Griewank (born December 20, 1795 in Wismar , † August 7, 1872 in Dassow ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and regional naturalist.

Life

Griewank was the son of the vice-principal in Wismar Joachim Heinrich Griewank. He attended the large city school Wismar and then studied theology at the Universities of Rostock and Göttingen. In Rostock he became a member of the Rostochia Association in 1813 and in Göttingen in 1815 a member of the Corps Vandalia Göttingen. After a job as a private tutor at the time , he became a collaborator at the teachers' college in Ludwigslust in 1820 , where he became inspector and assistant preacher for the parish of the court church in 1824 . In 1829 Griewank became pastor at the Nikolaikirche in Dassow and in 1857 prepositus at the Marienkirche in Klütz . In 1870 he was appointed to the Mecklenburg-Schwerin church council and in 1872 he retired. As a sideline he worked in close contact with the doctor and botanist Georg Gustav Detharding (1765–1838) in Rostock with the nature of the Klützer angle ; numerous publications left behind deal with the botany of this part of the landscape of Mecklenburg. He collected fossil fossils and was a member of the Association of Friends of Nature Mecklenburg.
