Carl Maier (entrepreneur)

Carl Maier (also Karl Maier or Carl Maier-Frey ; born October 19, 1877 in Niedermorschweiler , Alsace ; † June 4, 1952 in Kilchberg , Canton of Zurich ; resident in Schaffhausen ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and politician ( FDP ).

biography

Carl Maier was born the third child of Christian Albert Maier (1838–1896) and Emma Frey (1843–1931). His siblings were Amélie (* 1869) and Hedi (also Hedwig) (1873–1939) and Emil Maier (1889–1960).

The children Paul (1912–1995), Charlotte (* 1914), Ernst (* 1918) and Hedwig (* 1925) came from his marriage to Martha Frey in 1911. In 1909 he founded the later family business CMC (Carl Maier & Cie) in Schaffhausen .

Due to the majority procedure , he was a member of the Schaffhausen Cantonal Council from 1933 to 1936 .
