Carl Partsch

Carl Partsch (born January 1, 1855 in Schreiberhau ; † September 7, 1932 in Breslau ) was a German surgeon and university professor in Breslau. He is considered a pioneer in dental surgery.

Career

Partsch studied at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University . He joined the academic ranks of the Breslau Old Gymnastics Club and was one of the founding members of the Breslau Academic Gymnastics Club on November 4, 1875 . In 1880 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Four years later he qualified as a professor in surgery . In 1886 he settled in Breslau as a general practitioner. In 1890 he took over the management of the Dental University Institute in Wroclaw as an associate professor . In 1895 he was given the position of chief physician and surgeon at the monastery hospital of the Brothers of Mercy of St. John of God transfer. In the same year he was made an honorary member of the "Central Association of German Dentists" - without having completed a dental training. In 1908 he was one of the founders of the Wroclaw Surgical Society. In 1921 he was appointed full professor . In 1923 he resigned the management of the dental institute and in 1925 the management of the hospital.

Partsch inaugurated the apicectomy and the operation of odontogenic cysts named after him : cystostomy in 1892 (Partsch I) and cystectomy in 1910 (Partsch II); the cut also bears his name: arched cut according to Partsch . Partsch developed a sharp spoon with which cysts can be peeled off and granulation tissue removed after tooth extractions .
