Carl Schlottmann

Carl Gerhard Heinrich Schlottmann (born November 26, 1901 in Berlin ; † May 30, 1967 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Schlottmann studied law at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in his hometown and successfully completed this course with a doctorate . Parallel to his studies he was a student at the Berlin Music Academy (vocal training).

In 1933 Schlottmann made his debut as a bass baritone at the Stadttheater in Cottbus with some success . Then he had engagements at the theaters in Mannheim and Erfurt . In 1937 he joined the NSDAP (No. 5.662.615). From 1939 he was at the Brno City Theater and head of the Imperial Theater Chamber of the "Gau" Bohemia-Moravia.

After the turning point of the Second World War he was able to build on his old successes and came to the theater in Meiningen . For DEFA he played the gods Zeus in the short film Prometheus . Later he came to the German National Theater in Weimar .

Between 1956 and 1958 Schlottmann was a member of the city ​​theater in Freiburg i. Br. Afterwards he had no more permanent engagements, but only gave individual guest performances or singing evenings.
