Carl Wilhelm August Fritze , also Wilhelm Fritze , (born August 9, 1781 in Braunschweig ; † June 26, 1850 in Marienbad ) was a German businessman and Senator from Bremen .

biography

From 1795 to 1804, Fritze learned the trade of a businessman in Breslau . In 1809 he became a partner in the tobacco factory of Johann Friedrich Abegg, which was then called J. F. Abegg & Co. and from 1814 J. F. Abegg & W. A. ​​Fritze and traded in tobacco and grain. In 1810 the company and its office moved to Langenstrasse No. 105. In 1821 he became a parent man in the committee of the merchant's parents , representing the Bremen merchants. After Abegg became a senator and left, his younger brother Carl Wilhelm Fritze joined the company, which now operated as W. A. ​​Fritze and W. Fritze .

Fritze advised Mayor Johann Smidt on the establishment of Bremerhaven from 1821 to 1830. Due to his commitment, he was a senator in the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen from 1830 to 1849 . He was a member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge Zum Ölzweig ,

Together with his brother he was active in the commercial shipping company, in cotton and in the South Sea trade. The company owned four ships that went to the West Indies and North America. The partners of the successful company have changed frequently since 1842. Since 1847 he and / or family members have been involved in the wool trade, in the Witteburg stoneware factory in Farge and in the Bremen wool combing in Blumenthal .

After his death in 1877, the company's office moved to the Am Wall 155/156 building. From 1872 to 1909, she also had a sailing shipping company. The company survived severe crises caused by the First World War and the Great Depression . After the Second World War , the company headquarters in Birkenstrasse was u. a. the name W.
