Carlo Perosi
Carlo Cardinal Perosi (born December 18, 1868 in Tortona , Alessandria Province , Italy , † February 22, 1930 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Carlo Perosi studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Tortona and Rome . He received on 8 November 1891, the sacrament of the priesthood and, after further studies in 1894 parish pastor and chancellor of the seminary in Tortona. In 1907 he received the papal commission to visit the seminaries of Sicily and the appointment of the papal house prelate . From 1908 he worked for the Consistorial Congregation of the Curia . In 1917 he became a canon of the Patriarchal Basilica of San Pietro in Vaticano . Pope Pius XI took Carlo Perosi in 1926 as a cardinal deacon with the titular diakonia Sant'Eustachio in the cardinals college and appointed him pro-secretary of the Consistorial Congregation. In 1928 Cardinal Perosi became secretary of the Consistorial Congregation.
He died on February 22, 1930 in Rome and was buried in the Campo Verano cemetery there.
Cardinal Perosi was related to the composer Lorenzo Perosi (1872–1956), who led the choir of the Sistine Chapel, among other things.
