Carlos Balderas (* 24. May 1996 in Lompoc , California , USA ) is an American professional boxer in the lightweight .

Amateur career

Carlos Balderas is the younger brother of the professional boxer Jose Balderas and won 175 of 184 fights as an amateur. In 2014 he became the American youth bantamweight champion, won a bronze medal at the Pan American Youth Championships in 2014 and started at the Youth World Championships in Sofia in 2014 , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against eventual winner Javier Ibáñez.

At the Pan American Games 2015 he was defeated in the quarterfinals against Lindolfo Delgado and at the Pan American Championships 2015 in the round of 16 against Luis Cabrera .

In the 2015/16 season he boxed knockouts for Team USA in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) and won against Fabio Introvaia, Brian Nuñez, Adrian Martinez, Lindolfo Delgado and Hamza Rabii, while suffering only one loss to Albert Selimow . For this success he was nominated as the first US boxer for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the Olympics he was able to defeat Berik Äbdirachmanow and Daisuke Narimatsu before being eliminated in the quarter-finals against Lázaro Álvarez .

Professional career

In November 2016 he signed a professional contract with Ringstar Sports from promoter Richard Schaefer. He won his professional debut prematurely on April 9, 2017 against Thomas Smith. In December 2019 he lost to the Mexican Juan René Tellézgirón González by knockout.
