Luis Angel Cabrera Machado (* 20th May 1995 in Bolívar ) is a Venezuelan boxer in the lightweight .

Career

Luis Cabrera started boxing in 2005, is 176 cm tall and left-handed . He became Venezuelan champion in 2014 and won the Pan American Games qualification in Mexico in 2015 with wins against Pierre-Marie Pelissier, Kevin Muñoz, Jose Rosario and Faider Hernandez. At the Pan American Games in Canada in 2015 , he was eliminated in the first fight against Elvis Rodríguez. At the Pan American Championships in Venezuela in 2015, he won a bronze medal after losing to Robson Conceição in the semi-final . He had previously defeated Carlos Balderas and Nelson Diaz. At the 2015 World Championships in Qatar , he defeated Mohamed Sadiq before losing to Sofiane Oumiha in the round of 16 .

In 2016 he won the American Olympic qualification in Argentina against Henry Lebron, Michael Alexander, David Gauthier and Teófimo López . He then took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil , where he lost in the first duel against Daisuke Narimatsu .

By winning a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships 2017 in Honduras , he qualified for participation in the 2017 World Championships in Germany , where he defeated Jean John Colin and Reda Benbaziz . In the fight for a place in the medal ranks he was then eliminated from Dordschnjambuugiin Otgondalai .

2018 he won the silver medal at the South America Games in Bolivia and in 2019 a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Peru .

Luis Cabrera has been boxing for the “Caciques de Venezuela” team in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) since 2015 .
