Carlos María Franzini (born September 6, 1951 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , † December 8, 2017 ) was an Argentine clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Mendoza .

Life

Carlos María Franzini received on 13 August 1977, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He was chaplain of the abbey of Santa Escolástica (1983 to 1990), spiritual director of the great seminary of San Agustín (1985 to 1989) and since 1983 professor of theology there. He was Chancellor of the Church Curia of San Isidro from 1980 to 1990 and from 1989 to 1993 Deputy Secretary of the Argentine Bishops' Conference. From 1994 he directed the magazine Pastores and from 1990 to 1997 Vicar General of the Diocese of San Isidro.

On April 29, 2000, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Rafaela . The Bishop of San Isidro , Alcides Jorge Pedro Casaretto , gave him episcopal ordination on June 19th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Mendoza, José María Arancibia , and the Archbishop of Paraná , Estanislao Esteban Karlic .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 10, 2012 Archbishop of Mendoza. The ceremonial inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on February 9, 2013.
