The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mendoza ( lat. : Archidioecesis Mendozensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Mendoza ) is an in Argentina situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Mendoza .
history
The diocese of Mendoza was founded on April 20, 1934 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Papal Bull Nobilis Argentinae Nationis from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On April 10, 1961, the diocese gave parts of its territory to establish the diocese of San Rafael . At the same time the diocese of Mendoza was by Pope John XXIII. raised to the archbishopric with the suffragan dioceses San Rafael and Neuquén .
