Polish Championships in biathlon 2008

The Polish Biathlon Championships were held in Jakuszyce in 2008 . The competitions on December 28th and 29th took place during the break in the biathlon World Cup at the turn of the year. The title fights were held in the sprint and pursuit. While Tomasz Sikora was able to confirm his very good form of the season so far in the men’s category and became champion twice, Magdalena Gwizdoń confirmed her rather poor form so far. So won the title Krystyna Pałka in the sprint and the young talent Weronika Nowakowska in the pursuit.

40 biathletes participated. Krystyna Pałka benefited from her faultless shooting positions in her win. Favorite Magdalena Gwizdoń presented herself as in the previous season's races in moderate form and only came in bronze. Overall, there was a large fluctuation in performance among the athletes. Izabela Malinowska was 14: 39.5 minutes back in last place. A-team athlete Patrycja Hojnisz was only 15th, 6: 12.7 minutes behind. Katarzyna Ponikwia was not at the start.

There were 30 athletes. The winner of the sprint competition, Krystyna Pałka, was no longer at the start . She was unable to compete due to long-term back problems and food poisoning. Weronika Nowakowska, who had previously won her first title after being runner-up in the sprint, benefited from this. There were no longer any major shifts in the top ranking. The further spread in performance was to be determined. Last placed Dorota Wojda was 29: 33.2 minutes behind the winner. The sometimes poor shooting results were also noticeable.

were only 28 athletes left. What was striking was the renewed superiority of Sikora, the sometimes poor shooting performance and the further spread of performance. Grzegorz Korzeń was last placed 20: 12.5 minutes behind the winner. Tomasz Puda improved by 10 places thanks to a good shooting performance, while Łukasz Witek fell back to 15th place with 12 errors.
