Mirosław Kobus (born June 15, 1985 in Wałbrzych ) is a Polish biathlete .

Mirosław Kobus is a sports soldier and lives in Sokolowsko . He started biathlon in 2001 and has been a member of the Polish national team since 2003. He is trained by Jan Ziemianin and has been competing for BKS UP Koscielisko since 2007 , previously for AZS AE Wrocław . He competed in his first international races in 2004 as part of the junior competitions of the Biathlon European Cup . In the same year he took part in the Junior World Championships for the first time in Haute-Maurienne and was 51st in the individual and tenth with the relay. The European Junior Championships 2004 in Minsk he finished 30th in the individual, 32nd in the sprint and 29th in the pursuit, with the relay he finished sixth. In the summer of the year Kobus started at the junior competitions of the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie . He finished 13th in the sprint, 15th in the pursuit and 28th in the mass start. With the relay he finished sixth. In 2005 he also took part in the World Championships and the European Junior Championships. The European Championships in Novosibirsk brought good results with positions eleven in the sprint, 13 in the pursuit and 17 in the individual as well as five in the relay, the World Championships in Kontiolahti went less well with the ranks 34 in individual and sprint, 38 in the pursuit and eleven with the relay. The last major event among the juniors was the EM 2006 in Langdorf , where Kobus was 30th in the individual, 54th in the sprint, 40th in the pursuit and 11th in the relay. At the end of his junior career, he achieved multiple single-digit placements at the 2006 European Cup competitions in Gurnigel , including a second place behind Kaspars Dumbris in the mass start and thus achieved his best results in this series of competitions.

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season Kobus moved up into the performance area and made his debut in Obertilliach in the European Cup, where he was 44th in the sprint. His best result so far in this series of competitions he achieved so far in 2009 in Osrblie with a 12th place in the individual. In Oberhof he was able to run in the biathlon world cup for the first time in 2007 and was 101st in a sprint race. In his first World Cup season, Kobus was also allowed to take part in the 2007 Biathlon World Championships for the first time in Antholz and achieved his best ever World Cup result with 55th place in the sprint. In the following pursuit race he was lapped and therefore did not finish. In the individual he reached the 76th place, with the relay on the side of Krzysztof Pływaczyk , Grzegorz Bodziana and Tomasz Sikora 13. He also took part in the Biathlon European Championships 2007 in Bansko . In individual and sprint he finished 54th, with the relay he was tenth in the World Cup line-up. The second EM ran in Kobus 2009 in Ufa , where he was 36th in the sprint, 38th in the pursuit, 28th in the individual and 12th with the relay. In the summer he took part in the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2009 in Nové Město na Moravě , where he was 32nd in the sprint and thus missed the mass start based on it by two places. After a two-year break, Kobus was used again in the World Cup for the 2009/10 season and was used regularly until the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , but never got beyond a 67th place in the singles in Östersund at the start of the season. At the Games he was a Polish substitute, but was not used, although he was appointed to the Olympic squad as one of only three biathletes alongside Tomasz Sikora and Łukasz Szczurek . The 2010 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää were the highlight of the season . In the sprint he reached the 41st place, was 36th in the pursuit, 35th in the individual and with Łukasz Witek , Adam Kwak and Sebastian Witek seventh in the relay race.

Nationally, Kobus won the bronze medal in 2006 with the relay from AZS AE Wrocław , which also included Mariusz Leja and Krzysztof Pływaczyk . In 2007 he won the season title with Adam Kwak, Wiesław Ziemianin and Łukasz Szczurek - now starting for the BKS WP Kościelisko . In 2009 he won the title again with Kwak, Pływaczyk and Szczurek and was also third in the sprint behind Sikora and Szczurek and runner-up in the pursuit behind Sikora.
