The Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo ( lat. : Archidioecesis Sancti Ioannis de Cuyo , span. : Arquidiócesis de San Juan de Cuyo ) is in Argentina situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in San Juan .
history
The Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo was founded in 1826 by Pope Leo XII. from the cession of territory by the diocese of Córdoba as the Apostolic Vicariate of San Juan de Cuyo . On September 19, 1834, the Vicariate Apostolic San Juan de Cuyo by Pope Gregory XVI. raised to the diocese with the papal bull Ineffabili Dei Providentia . On April 20, 1934, the diocese of San Juan de Cuyo gave parts of its territory to establish the dioceses of Mendoza and San Luis .
On April 20, 1934, the diocese of San Juan de Cuyo by Pope Pius XI. elevated to an archbishopric with the papal bull Nobilis Argentinae Nationis .
