Carmen-Francesca Banciu

Carmen-Francesca Banciu (born October 25, 1955 in Lipova , Romania ) is a Romanian and German writer.

Life

Carmen-Francesca Bancius' father was a high-ranking government official in Romanian Communist- ruled Romania. She studied church painting in Arad and foreign trade at universities of applied sciences in Bucharest .

In 1985 she was awarded the International Short Stories Prize of the city of Arnsberg , which was followed by a 5-year publication ban in Romania.

After the communist regime of Romania fell in 1990 , Banciu moved to Berlin . Since 1996 she has been writing her works mainly in German . In addition to her work as a writer, she also works as a freelance journalist, translator, editor and commentator for various news media and leads seminars on creativity and creative writing . She created the course Touching Life and gives workshops at universities and the like. a. in USA, UK, Venice Summer Academy.

Banciu gave readings in various countries in Europe and the United States . Among other things, Cornelia Street Cafe in New York , KGB Bar, in the German House of New York University and the Goethe Institute in Boston a . San Francisco, Berkeley Univ. Bloomington,. Harvard Univ.

In 2005, Banciu was Writer in Residence at Rutgers University in New Brunswick , New Jersey .
