Carol Schuurman (born August 17, 1934 in The Hague , Netherlands ; † April 3, 2009 , ibid) was a Dutch football player . He was active in the Eredivisie for ADO Den Haag and made four games for the national team .

Club career

Schuurman came to ADO at the age of 18 from Cromvliet, the Hague football club. Here he played in the storm , "preferably as a center forward ". Together with Theo Timmermans , Mick Clavan and Lex Rijnvis , he was in the ADO team, which rose to the honorary division in 1957 under coach Rinus Loof as champion of the Eerste Divisie . Schuurman contributed to the rise with 29 goals. Two years later he reached the cup final with ADO as well as in 1963, but both games were lost.

After a total of 166 Eredivisies games with 106 goals for ADO, he was sorted out in 1963 by the new coach Ernst Happel . Schuurman switched to the Eerste Divisie for DHC from Delft . Two years later he went to Racing Club Hemstede , where he played his final season as a professional. Then he was active until the mid-1970s at the amateur club RVC from Rijswijk , with whom he was second in the Sunday championship of amateurs in 1971 .

National team

Schuurman had already played several times in the B-selection of the KNVB when he played with the A-Elf in November 1957 for the first time in an unofficial friendly against a London selection. He made his first "real" international match on May 4, 1958 under bond coach Elek Schwartz . The game in front of 60,000 spectators in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium against Turkey was lost 2-1; the goal of the Dutch was not scored by Schuurman, but by Faas Wilkes from a penalty. Schuurman had to wait almost three years for his next appearance in Rotterdam against Belgium on March 22, 1961. After another friendly against Mexico , a World Cup qualifier against the GDR team followed on May 14, 1961 . The 1-1 draw at the Leipzig Central Stadium was Schuurman's last game in Oranje , and he couldn't score a goal in this either.
