Carsten Müller-Tidow

Carsten Müller-Tidow (* 1968 in Remscheid ) is a German hematologist and oncologist and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

After graduating from high school , Müller-Tidow studied human medicine at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen and at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . After passing the state examination , he worked at the University Clinic in Münster from 1994 to 1996 and also did his doctorate during this time . In 1996, with a grant from the German Research Foundation , he undertook a three-year research stay in Los Angeles , where he worked at both the University of California and the University of Southern California . He then returned to Münster, where he received the specialist title and the Venia legendi for internal medicine in 2003 and completed his habilitation . In 2004 he was appointed senior physician and in 2009 university professor specializing in hematology and oncology. In 2014 he was appointed Director of the University Clinic and Polyclinic for Internal Medicine IV at the University Hospital Halle and appointed to a professorship for internal medicine at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Act

In his clinical research , Müller-Tidow is primarily concerned with leukemia , lymphoma and related diseases of the hematopoietic or lymphatic system. In an experimental context , he researches tumor development and metastasis as well as the epigenetic mechanisms involved . The aim is to develop new therapeutic approaches. Müller-Tidow's scientific work is funded by the German Research Foundation , the German Cancer Aid Foundation , the German José Carreras Leukemia Foundation , the Wilhelm Sander Foundation , the Fresenius Foundation and the European Union , among others .
