Cartesian Dreams is the seventh studio album by the American melodic rock band House of Lords .

Emergence

The album was recorded in 2009 in the studio of the singer James Christian. It contains 12 tracks, two of which were written in collaboration with guitarist Tommy Denander , who also produced these tracks . It also includes a duet between the singer and his wife Robin Beck , entitled Repo Man .

Cover

The cover of the album shows a woman in a white robe standing between two stone pillars, with her back to the viewer. She looks over a lake that is bordered by two mountain tops, above which two lions hold a heraldic shield . A sword can be seen on the woman's belt . The coat of arms has been a recurring motif since the group's debut album, while the sword, which is also depicted on the back of the CD case, was the cover motif of the second album, Sahara .

publication

The album was released on CD in Europe on September 18, 2009 ; other forms of output are not known.

reception

The magazine Rocks wrote under the heading "Echoes from the drawing board":

It takes courage to proclaim for yourself to play arena rock without ever having sold one out alone. House of Lords was a project by Gregg Giuffria (formerly Angel) that was created on the drawing board; and that's exactly how it sounds in 2009. Just without Giuffria. Only singer James Christian is still there from the original line-up. That is not enough. Without his voice, this CD would quickly lose its appeal. As on the last two albums, there are only a few highlights, in this case the great ›Joanna‹. The rest is echo. Or embarrassingly clumsy things like the Iraq song ›Desert Rain‹. Melodic rockers should stay away from political issues. And Christian finally join Axel Rudi Pell. "
