Catalunya Express

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catalunya Express ( Catalunya Exprés in Catalunya ) is a type of train belonging to the Media Distancia category of the Spanish railway company RENFE .

definition

In Catalonia , trains in the Regional Exprés category are referred to by the name of the region instead of the title Regional Exprés, analogous to other autonomous regions that have financially supported these trains or are still supporting them (cf. Andalucia Exprés, Galicia Exprés).

The Catalunya Express is the highest quality local train category in Catalonia and is roughly comparable to the German InterRegio or InterCity. The trains only stop in large cities or at tourist stops. The stops of the trains on the lines are not identical, so the travel times vary. In the last section, some of the trains also serve less important stops and are therefore being extended as local trains.

Due to the often considerably shorter travel times compared to Rodalies (suburban railway system similar to the S-Bahn), Regional Delta (trains continuing beyond the Rodalies section as regional trains) and Regional, a higher fare has to be paid.

Comparisons

The Catalunya Express is comparable to the German InterRegio or its successor InterRegioExpress.

Line network

The Catalunya Express route network is primarily aimed at Barcelona. There are almost no cross connections or diameter lines.
