Cebgo is a low-cost Philippine airline based in Manila and based at Ninoy Aquino International Airport . This is a subsidiary of Cebu Pacific and uses its brand identity.

history

The airline was founded in 1994 by Iren Dornier and partners under the name Seair . Operations started in 1995 with three Dornier Do 28s . From 2003 onwards, the company appeared under the South East Asian Airlines brand . In 2002, 2003 and 2009 the company received the Philippines Consumer Excellence Award . In 2010 Seair received an award from the Gold Brands Council Philippines ; it is one of the most important brand companies in the Philippines.

On December 16, 2010 an extensive cooperation with the Singaporean low-cost airline Tigerair began . From this date onwards Seair took over two Airbus A319-10s (later also A320-200s ) from Tigerair and since then has been flying to regional destinations on behalf of the partner company. After the start of the cooperation, Tigerair entered the company in February 2011 with the purchase of 32.5% of the shares. and increased its stake in August 2012, the maximum permitted for foreign investors by 40%. However, Tigerair decided not to take over the regional business with the smaller aircraft in the fleet. This, including the aircraft, was spun off by the founder, Iren Dornier, as part of the sale of his airline, to the newly founded SEAir International , which began operations in December 2012 under an independent operating license. At the beginning of July 2013, South East Asian Airlines was renamed Tigerair Philippines in order to standardize the Tigerair subsidiaries .

At the beginning of January 2014, Cebu Pacific took over 100% of the shares in Tigerair Philippines. Cebu Pacific is aiming for closer cooperation with Tigerair and originally wanted to continue operating Tigerair Philippines under the Tigerair brand name . However, on May 10, 2015, Tigerair Philippines was renamed Cebgo . In this context, it was converted into a low-cost airline . In addition, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo share the same website and the machines fly in the livery of the parent company.

Cebgo was on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union , a review of the ban was initiated in March 2015 and finally lifted in June 2015.
