Chao-Li Chi

Chao-Li Chi ( Chinese  季 超 李 , Pinyin Jì Chāolǐ ; born April 5, 1927 in Shanxi Province , Republic of China ; † October 16, 2010 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor of Chinese origin.

Life

Chi was from the 1948 avant-garde - director Maya Deren discovered. In Meditation on Violence , a musical collage , he played himself and showed a self-developed Tai Chi - choreography . It was not until the mid-1970s that he began his acting career. He first worked as a guest star on television series such as The Bad Five , Quincy and Fantasy Island . In the early 1980s he starred in Jackie Chan's first English-language feature film The Great Brawl and inThe eyewitness with Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt in the lead roles, followed in 1986 by John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China .

From 1981 to 1990 Chi played the role of the butler in the series Falcon Crest in 216 episodes ; It is worth mentioning that his role name was also Chao-Li Chi. Since the end of the series, Chi has appeared in comedies such as The Crazy Professor with Eddie Murphy and The Wedding Crashers , and in 2008 he had a guest appearance on the series Pushing Daisies .
