Chapada dos Guimarães

Chapada dos Guimarães , officially Município de Chapada dos Guimarães , is a city with 18,190 inhabitants (2009) in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso , 62 km north of Cuiabá . Chapada dos Guimarães also refers to the rocky plateau of the same name, 836 meters high, which is surrounded by cerrado and rainforest. It is also a tourist destination because of its waterfalls, caves, table mountains, canyons and the rich wildlife. The highest waterfall is the Cachoeira Véu da Noiva with 96 meters.

The mountain range has been part of the 330 km² Chapada dos Guimarães National Park since December 4, 1989 .
