Patrick Cardinal D'Rozario CSC (born October 1, 1943 in Padrishibpur ) is Archbishop of Dhaka .

Life

Patrick D'Rozario joined the religious order of the Congregation of the Holy Cross , made his profession on June 14, 1962 , and was ordained a priest on October 8, 1972 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Rajshahi on May 21, 1990 . The Bishop of Dinajpur , Theotonius Gomes CSC, donated him episcopal ordination on September 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Michael Rozario , Archbishop of Dhaka, and Piero Biggio , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Bangladesh .

On February 3, 1995, he was appointed Bishop of Chittagong . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 25, 2010 as Coadjutor Archbishop of Dhaka. With the retirement of Paulinus Costa , he succeeded him on October 22, 2011 in the office of Archbishop of Dhaka.

In the consistory of November 19, 2016, Pope Francis accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church Nostra Signora del Santissimo Sacramento e Santi Martiri Canadesi in the college of cardinals . The takeover of his titular church took place on May 13 of the following year.

On December 23, 2017, the Pope appointed him a member of the Dicastery for the Holistic Development of Man .
