The Archdiocese of Dhaka ( Latin : Archidioecesis Dhakensis ) is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Bangladesh with its seat in Dhaka .

The forerunner of today's Archdiocese of Dhaka is the 1834 by Pope Gregory XVI. established Apostolic Vicariate of Bengal, which was founded in 1850 by Pius IX. Renamed in Apostolic Vicariate East Bengal and on September 1, 1886 by Leo XIII. was raised to the diocese of East Bengal. In 1887 it was renamed the Diocese of Dacca. Pius XII. elevated the diocese to an archbishopric on July 15, 1950 , and on October 19, 1982 the name Dacca was changed to Dhaka.

The cession of territory by the archdiocese created the diocese of Chittagong in 1927 , the Apostolic Prefecture of Haflong in 1952 and the Diocese of Sylhet in 2011 .

The Archbishop of Dhaka was metropolitan for all of Bangladesh until February 2017. With the establishment of the church province of Chittagong and the elevation of the diocese of Chittagong to the archbishopric, the previous suffragans Barisal and Khulna were subordinated to this.
