Charl Pretorius (born February 19, 1997 in Pretoria , South Africa ) is a South African ice hockey goalkeeper who has played for the Elmira College team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2015 .

Career

Charl Pretorius began his career with the Pretoria Warriors from his hometown, for which he was in goal for the first time in the 2012 season in the Gauteng Province Ice Hockey League , one of the regional ice hockey leagues in South Africa, whose champions play the South African national champions at the end of the season. He then moved to the United States, where, after three years at the Northwood School, he has been playing for the Elmira College team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2015 .

International

In the junior area, Pretorius was at the U18 World Championships in Division III in 2012 , 2013 when he had the best catch quota of the tournament, in 2014 when he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament with the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals and was instrumental in promoting the South Africans contributed from group B to group A, and in 2015 , when he was again the best goalkeeper but could not prevent immediate relegation, in goal. He also played in Division III for South Africa at the 2014 U20 World Cup .

He played for the men's selection at the World Championships of Division III in 2016 , 2017 and 2018 , when he was awarded the second best catch quota after the Turk Muhammed Karagül as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
