Charles L. Bennett

Charles Leonard Bennett (born November 16, 1956 in New Brunswick , New Jersey ) is an American astrophysicist and professor of physics and astrophysics at Johns Hopkins University .

He is the head of the research group for the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) project at NASA . Prior to 2005, Bennett was Senior Scientist for Experimental Cosmology , Goddard Senior Fellow, and Infrared Astrophysics Branch Head at Goddard Space Flight Center . Bennett was at the Carnegie Institution of Washington in the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism from summer 1976 to 1978 .

education

In 1978 Bennett received his BS in Physics and Astronomy with cum laude and honors in Astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park . In 1984 he received from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology the Ph.D. in physics.
