Charles Noyes Forbes
Charles Noyes Forbes (born September 24, 1883 in Boylston , Massachusetts , † August 10, 1920 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) was an American botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " CN Forbes ".
Live and act
During the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake, he served as a cadet for the University of California for the police and army. From 1908 to 1920 he was curator of the herbarium at the Bernice P. Bishop Museum in Honolulu. In 1919 he was the first botanist to study the marsh flora in eastern Maui . Forbes described several Hawaiian plant taxas that are very rare or already extinct today, including Cyanea parvifolia , Hibiscadelphus bombycinus, and Clermontia tuberculata . Species such as Cheirodendron forbesii or Pipturus forbesii have been named in honor of Charles Noyes Forbes.
