Charles Peters Barthelus

Charles Peters Barthélus (born November 14, 1970 in Dessalines ) is a Haitian clergyman and appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Port-de-Paix .

Life

After Charles Peters Barthélus had completed a theological preparatory course from 1989 to 1990 , he entered the Notre-Dame d'Haïti seminary . From 1990 to 1992 Barthélus studied philosophy in the seminary in the Cazeau district of Port-au-Prince and from 1992 to 1996 Catholic theology in the seminary in the Turgeau district of Port-au-Prince. He was on 25 January 1998 on the deacon ordained and received on June 7 of that year, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After his ordination, Charles Peters Barthélus worked as parish vicar of the parish of Sainte-Anne in Port-au-Prince before he became parish administrator of the parish of Sainte-Thérèse in Pétionville in 2001 . In 2011, Barthélus was sent to France for further studies , where he obtained a licentiate in liturgical studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris in 2014 . After returning to his homeland, he became a sub-rain of the Notre-Dame d'Haïti seminary in 2014 .

On April 14, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Port-de-Paix.
