Charlie Hickman (born November 24, 1935 in Chicago as Charles Martin Hickman Jr , † October 2, 1979 in Sydney ) was an American actor and singer who was mainly a radio and television presenter.

Live and act

Hickman was born as the son of the lawyer Charles Martin Hickman and Gertrud Hickman. Merrion was born, who worked as a press officer for the Hilton Hotel Corporation after her husband passed away at the age of 47. After graduating from high school, he worked as a radio disc jockey and stage actor to help finance his psychology and political science studies at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend , Indiana . In 1958 he came to Germany as GI , where he became known and loved as a disc jockey at AFN over the next two years . After his discharge from the army, he hosted the hit music show Teens-Twens-Toptime on Hessischer Rundfunk until 1969 and hosted the regional television program Beat Beat Beat on Hessischer Rundfunk for several years . From December 1965 he hosted the music program Musik und Information on Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) for a year, which was broadcast throughout Germany. In June 1966 he moderated the Beatles' tour of Germany ; in the same year he recorded a few hits for Polydor . He often appeared as a guest presenter for Frank Elstner on Radio Luxembourg and spoke the English news version of Deutsche Welle for nine years . From January 8, 1968 to September 30, 1968, he hosted the radio program Schlager der Woche once a week at RIAS .

As an actor he appeared in the films Delay in Marienborn , Password Heron , Jack of Diamonds , Toller Hecht auf Krummer Tour , an episode of Man from UNCLE . Temporarily manager of the jazz singer Inge Brandenburg , he was involved in the music film Jazz and Jux in Heidelberg (1964), then in the television film Das Kriminalmuseum: Die Mütze (1965) and the feature film Girls between Sex and Sin . He was briefly married to actress Elke Arendt , with whom he had a daughter, who later became actress Lauretta Hickman. From 1961 to 1967 he lived in Munich and from 1967 to 1969 in Königstein im Taunus. In December 1969 he decided to turn his back on the entertainment industry, and by the beginning of 1971 he and his partner Karin went on a multi-year overland trip through Africa and Asia. He then lived with his family in Chicago, where he worked as a stockbroker for Dean Witter (now part of Morgan Stanley ) until the end of 1973 . Moved by the turbulent political and economic environment in the USA at the time, he emigrated to Australia with his wife Karin and their sons Jörg and Reiner. In Sydney he headed the American Chamber of Commerce until his sudden death from a heart attack .
