Charlotte Bombal

Charlotte Bombal (born Kempe ; * December 14, 1935 in Glauchau ; † February 6, 2000 ) was a German FDGB functionary. She was chairwoman of the textile-clothing-leather industrial union and chairwoman of the central revision commission of the FDGB.

Life

Bombal, daughter of a textile engineer, attended elementary school and from 1950 to 1953 completed a weaving apprenticeship in the ladies' fabric weaving mill in Glauchau. In 1950 she joined the FDJ . In 1960 she became a member of the SED .

From 1954 to 1957 she studied at the engineering school for the textile industry in Reichenbach in Vogtland , completing her studies as a textile engineer. From 1957 to 1962 she was an investment worker, technologist and technical draftsman at VEB Mitteldeutsche Spinnhütte Plauen . From 1962 she worked as chairwoman of the works union management (BGL) of VVB Deko Plauen. On November 23, 1963 she was elected to the Presidium of the FDGB Federal Executive Committee at the 6th FDGB Congress (at that time still under her maiden name Kempe), to which she belonged until April 28, 1986 (14th meeting of the Federal Executive Committee). From 1972 to 1974 she completed her studies at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . From 1975 to May 1986 she was the chairwoman of the central executive committee of IG Textile-Clothing-Leather. From May 1986 to February 1990 she was chairman of the Central Revision Commission of the FDGB (successor to Alfred Wilke ). After the reunification and peaceful revolution , she worked on a filling machine in a salad factory.

Charlotte Bombal was married to the actor, director and journalist Gerhard Bombal (1927–2011). She died at the age of 64 and was taken to the St. Andreas / St. Markus cemetery in Hohenschönhausen is buried.
