The Charlottenhof is a passenger ship of the traditional company Weisse Flotte Potsdam in the Brandenburg state capital Potsdam .

history

The ship is one of a series of five Kosmos class passenger ships that were built by VEB Yachtwerft Berlin from 1964 to 1965 . The official designation of the shipyard for the series was inland passenger ship 37.5 m / type Berlin - project 2303 . Three ships in the series were originally given names in connection with Soviet space technology. One ship was named after Otto von Guericke and the last ship in the series was delivered to VEB Verkehrsbetriebe Potsdam in 1965 with hull number 2303-5 and was named Potsdam after the capital of the then Potsdam district . It was mainly used in the Potsdam and Brandenburg area on the Havel for the Weisse Flotte Potsdam, a part of the then state-owned transport company.

Potsdam harbor

The white fleet was put out to tender in 2000. There were several applicants for the company. These included financial consortia from Hamburg and Munich. Two entrepreneurs from the region were awarded the contract at the beginning of 2000. They already owned the saloon ship Fridericus Rex and the steamship Gustav . The Haveldampfschiffahrt company remained independent. Together with the Weisse Flotte Potsdam they operate under the umbrella term shipping in Potsdam .

The ship

The Potsdam , the later Charlottenhof , was and is powered by two SKL 6 NVD 21-2 engines that act on the propellers via gears. Two generators, each driven by a diesel engine of the HK 65 series (type designation NZD 9/12) from the Karl-Marx-Stadt diesel power plant, are available for power supply on board. In 1990, the ship was in the shipyard Genthin extended by ten meters, teilumgebaut, modernized and after the Charlottenhof Palace in Charlottenhof renamed. The ship is approved for 300 passengers. Inside there is seating for 178 people. There are around 130 seats outside, on the foredeck, on the upper deck and on the aft deck.

A galley, a counter area and a service team, depending on the number of guests and the area of travel, are available for passenger care to provide catering for the passengers.
