Chen Zhili ( Chinese  陳至立  /  陈至立 , Pinyin Chén Zhìlì ; born November 21, 1942 in Xianyou , Fujian ) is a Chinese politician of the Communist Party of China (CCP) who, among other things, was Minister of Education between 1998 and 2003 , and vice-chairwoman from 2008 to 2013 of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress .

Life

Chen Zhili, a member of the Han Chinese , began studying physics at Fudan University in 1959 after attending school and graduated in 1964. She joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as a member in 1961 while studying . She completed postgraduate studies from 1964 to 1968 at the Shanghai- based Institute for Silicates of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and worked for the People's Liberation Army during the Cultural Revolution between 1968 and 1970owned farm No. 6409 in Danyanghu. After that she was from 1970 to 1970 as a research scientist at the Institute of Silicate Chinese Academy of Sciences and worked 1980-1982 Guest Scholar ( Visiting Scholar ) at the Pennsylvania State University .

After her return, Chen Zhili was deputy secretary of the Party Committee at the Shanghai Institute for Silicates from 1982 to 1984 and then between 1984 first deputy secretary and finally secretary for science and technology of the Shanghai City Party Committee. On the XIII. She became a candidate for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (Central Committee) at the 3rd party congress and held this position until 1997. She served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai City Party Committee between 1988 and 1991 and was also head of the Public Relations Department of the Shanghai City Party Committee from 1988 to 1991. Chen Zhili then served as vice-chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress between March 2008 and March 2013 . She also succeeded Gu Xiulian as President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) in October 2008, and held this position until she was replaced by Shen Yueyue on May 7, 2013. In 2008, she also served as vice-chair of the National Olympic Organizing Committee Committee (NOK) for the organization of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing . In 2008 she was awarded the Olympic Order for her services there . In 2010 she also became chair of the Chinese Children's Foundation.
