Cheyenne is a town in Roger Mills County in the US state of Oklahoma and also the county seat of this county . The population is around 801 (as of 2010 ). The location is on US Highway 283 and Oklahoma Highway 47.

Cheyenne is at 35 ° 36'45 "North, 99 ° 40'26" West and is therefore in the "heart" of Roger Mills County . Cheyenne is located south of the Washita River and covers an area of 2.6 km 2 . The village is about 250 km from the capital of the state of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City .

According to the 2000 census, 778 people in 356 households and 196 families lived here. The population density was 303.4 people per km 2 . history
Cheyenne was the site of the Battle of Washita , in which George Armstrong Custer attacked Chief Black Kettle on November 26, 1868 with the 7th US Cavalry . Over 100 people were killed in this massacre .
In the 1970s, large oil and gas deposits were discovered in the area . From 1973 to 1993 230,000,000 m³ of gas were produced.
