Chicory Tip was a British pop band from Maidstone , Kent , who entered the top 20 of the UK charts with three singles in the early 1970s .

Band history

The band was founded in 1967 by Peter Hewson. The Son of My Father , written by Giorgio Moroder , Michael Holm and Pete Bellotte, was number one in the UK charts for three weeks in February 1972, and the single reached number 18 in Germany. The song was in September 1971 when the sun was shining at night already a success for Michael Holm.

With What's Your Name (1972, number 14) and Good Grief Christina (1973, number 15), Chicory Tip had two other hits in the UK. In 1973, like Son of My Father and Good Grief Christina , Cigarettes, Women and Wine was a top 10 hit in Norway.
