Minori Chihara ( Japanese 茅 原 実 里 , Chihara Minori , born November 18, 1980 in Utsunomiya , Tochigi Prefecture ) is a Japanese seiyū and singer who has played in numerous anime series since 2004 and has also increasingly played J-Pop music in recent years produced. As a singer, she was signed to King Records and Avex Trax . She currently works for Lantis . She is often referred to by fans as a minor ( み の り ん ).

Career

From April to September 2003 she worked as an assistant to Mariko Kōda in the radio show Kōda Mariko no GM , making her first debut in front of a larger audience. At the same time, she won first place in the Seiyū Grand Prix Club and thus received permission to work at the Avex Artist Academy . Originally only one person was to be accepted, but the Avex jury decided to include three assistants due to the fierce competition and the unexpectedly great talent of the participants. In October of the same year she was among the top four finalists in the VOICE ARTIST & SINGER AUDITION 「VS オ ー デ ィ シ ョ ン 2003」 organized by Pony Canyon . However, she could not win the main prize. In an interview, she expressed her disappointment that she had not won the award and that she would work harder on her discipline in the future in order to ultimately fulfill her dream.

In 2004 she made her debut with her first role as Seiyū in the anime Tenjo Tenge , where she played the role of Aya Natsume. In December she released her album HEROINE under the King Records label and opened her private weblog Minorhythm . In April 2005, she began moderating the Internet radio program Oshiyaberi Yattemasu ( お し ゃ べ り や っ て ま ー す ), which she played together with Masaya Onosaka and Miyu Matsuki as a Thursday group. In May she began hosting the two radio programs Avex presents Chihara Minori no Makenai Radio (avex presents 茅 原 実 里 の 負 け な な い ラ ジ オ ) and Avex presents Chihara Minori no Ikenai Radio (avex presents 茅 原 実 里 の い け な い ラ ジ オ ).

In March 2006, her blog, minorhythm, went online. From April to September of this year she played the role of Yuki Nagato in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, arguably the most significant for her . The role in the hugely successful anime television series helped her breakthrough and made her known outside of Japan. In July, the single Hare Hare Yukai was released, which she sang with Aya Hirano and Yūko Gotō and later achieved gold status in Japan. In November she received together with Yūko Gotō (Aya Hirano was not due to illness at the ceremony) the Radio Kansai Award for Hare Hare Yukai .

On January 24, 2007 she released the single Junpaku Sanctuary , ending an almost two-year hiatus from her own singing career. So she performed live on stage at the Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou on March 18, 2007 and started a radio show in May which was published together with her blog. This is the name of the program Radio Minorhythm , which was broadcast on Wednesdays as part of the Lantis Internet radio . This was followed on June 6th by the single Kimi ga Kureta Ano Hi ( 君 が く れ た あ の 日 ), which reached 20th place on the Oricon charts. About a month later, she appeared together with Aya Hirano and Yūko Gotō from June 29th to July 2nd at the Anime Expo 2007 as a guest of honor, and a week later at the Animelo Summer Live 2007 Generation-A . On August 16, in an interview, she announced her album Contact , which was released on October 24 , the Live tour which began on November 18, and a series of music videos. The interview was broadcast on 115 billboards across Japan.

In 2008 she released numerous singles and continued her career as a singer. So she stepped z. B. at the Dream Stage concert at the Francy Frontier Convention in Taipei , Taiwan .
