Tenjo tenge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tenjo Tenge ( Japanese 天上 天下 , Tenjō Tenge ) is a manga series from the Japanese mangaka Oh! Great , which was also implemented as an anime . It can be assigned to the His category.

Tenjō Tenge ("heaven and earth") refers to a saying by Siddhartha Gautama , the founder of Buddhism. Shortly after his birth he pointed to heaven and earth and said "Heaven and earth alone must worship me." Or "In heaven and earth there is no one more precious / nobler than me." ( 天上 天下 唯我独尊 , tenjō tenge yuiga dokuson ) .

action

Bob Makihara ( ボ ブ 牧 原 , Bobu Makihara ) and Soichiro Nagi ( 凪 宗一郎 , Nagi Sōichirō ) are new to the Todo Academy and have made it their mission to subordinate this school, like many other schools before. Both like to fight and have never been defeated before. In this school, too, it works smoothly at first and they begin to make their way through the lower classes. But suddenly Soichiro is confronted with Maya Natsume ( 棗 真 夜 , Natsume Maya ) who looks like a small child . However, this is not a child, but has the ability to transform into one. From the transformation of Maya back into her normal form, completely amazed, he is knocked out of the window by Maya with her wooden sword. He falls on the shower room, breaks through the roof and finds himself in the arms of the almost bare Aya Natsume ( 棗 亜 夜 , Natsume Aya ). Aya, Maya's younger sister, who is also very beautiful, falls in love with Soichiro at first sight, but that doesn't really suit him.

Shortly afterwards, Bob and Soichiro are beaten up by the so-called Executive Committee, an organization of the school that punishes the “unclean” students. Although the two have to admit that they are not the academy's strongest students, they want to take revenge on the committee. To improve their skills, they begin to train in the budo club that Maya runs.

A flashback follows that highlights the events at Todo Academy. The focus here is Shin Natsume (棗 慎, Natsume Shin) the older brother of Maya and Aya, who just like Aya has the ryugan or dragon eye. However, Shin's supernatural abilities take control of him more and more and he begins to become more and more violent. In the background, however, Mitsuomi's father, Takayanagi Dougen, watches over Shin's development, which threatens to become increasingly alarming. Bunshichi Tawara (俵 文 七, Tawara Bunshichi) succeeds in bringing Shin to his senses again and in this phase the Budo Club is founded. Maya and Mitsuomi fall in love during this time, a circumstance that Shin notices and does not like to see. Shin Mitsuomi is seriously injured during a plot in which the Takayanagi family appears to be involved. With this injury, Mitsuomi gains the ability to put excessive strain on his body for a short time, but this also takes its toll. In a final duel between Mitsuomi and Shin, Shin is killed and Maya swears vengeance.

After this review, the preparation for the big school tournament begins. While most Budo members train harder than ever, Souichiro expects a special form of training. The blood of the exorcists flows in him , which gives him the ability to steal the supernatural powers of others, so to speak. The quality is awakened with the help of the heads of the families of the Takayanagi Phoenix . But the Budo members hardly have time to improve their skills, as a new organization called “F” stands in their way. The members of F are all offspring of the Takayanagi phoenix families and at least ostensibly loyal to Mitsuomi. After two fights with F members, Souichiro is kidnapped by his father Souhaku Kago ( 寵 宗 魄 , Kago Souhaku), who makes him use his abilities as an exorcist again and again. In a joint action by Mitsuomi and Maya, Souchiro can be freed from the clutches of his father, whose head is cut off by Mitsuomi. However, Maya falls into a coma-like state from which she cannot be freed even with the help of supernatural powers.

At the same time, with the help of her dragon eyes, Aya has a vision of events that happened 400 years ago. First of all it is shown how Oda Nobunaga is beheaded by Kago Souhaku. As the game progresses, various members of the supernaturally gifted red plumage families gather to defeat Kago Souhaku. With the help of Princess Senhime (千 姫, Senhime), he holed up in Osaka Castle . Despite huge losses, it appears that the enterprise to kill Kago Souhaku is successful. However, 20 years later - after the castle fell - Kago Souhaku can be resurrected.

The plot then pans back to the school tournament that is now beginning, in which the feuds of the past are to be decided.

Characters

Budo club

Maya Natsume ( 棗 真 夜 , Natsume Maya )

Maya is the current leader of the Budo Club. Most of the time, she takes the form of a little girl and very rarely shows her true form. At an early age she was instructed to watch over the Reiki sword . She was the only person who could control her brother Shin and after his death she vowed to take revenge on her former lover Mitsuomi.

Aya Natsume ( 棗 亜 夜 , Natsume Aya )

Maya's younger sister is madly in love with Souichiro and plans to marry him. She herself has the ability of Ryugan (dragon eye), which allows her to see things from the future and the past. So the ryugan enables her to have a vision of events 400 years ago.

Soichiro Nagi ( 凪 宗一郎 , Nagi Soichiro )

Soichiro was a thug all his life, but when he joined Todou Academy, he was forced to join the Budo Club. His family has the ryuken (dragon fist ) ability which allows them to assimilate other people's dragon gates .

Bob Makihara ( 牧 原 ボ ブ , Makihara Bob )

Soichiro's friend Bob has foreign roots, which can be seen in his dark skin and dreadlocks . Bob uses capoeira techniques in combat to defend himself.

Masataka Takayanagi ( 高 柳 雅 孝 , Takayanagi Masataka )

Mitsuomi's younger brother is madly in love with Aya, who, to his chagrin, does not notice. Like his brother, he is an excellent fighter, although he looks quite petite compared to Mitsuomi.

Shin Natsume ( 棗 慎 , Natsume Shin )

Like Aya, Shin had the ryugan, but he was unable to cope with the bad influence of this quality, so that he became a murderer. He is the founder of the Budo Club and was President of the Executive Committee throughout his school career. He took his own life after losing the battle to his friend Mitsuomi.

Kagesada Sugano ( 菅 野 影 定 , Sugano Kagesada )

One of the legendary founding members of the Budo Club. But actually he's just an arrogant handsome guy who was forced to join in order to reach the minimum number of members for the club to be founded. He gets the nickname "dumbass", which haunted him all his school life. He prefers to run away and hide rather than fight. Nevertheless, his popularity with the students of the Todo Academy is unbroken and he has a downright small harem. After Shin's death, he undergoes a huge amount of training every day in order to be able to do something if things should repeat themselves.

Executive Committee

Mitsuomi Takayanagi : The oldest offspring of the Takayanagi clan was once close friends with Shin Natsume and together with Maya. However, he was seriously injured by Shin, which repeatedly accelerated his metabolism for a short time. This gives him great strength, but it comes at the cost of his health. After Shin's death, he became chairman of the executive committee.
Bunshishi Tawara : Bunshishi was one of the founding members of the Budo Club and Shin was almost equal. Apart from his physical strength, he has no supernatural powers. After Shin's death, he largely withdrew from the Budo Club and the Executive Committee. He was also Shin's best friend.

F.

Souhaku Kago : Soichiro's immortal father is able to manipulate ki, which enables him to revive recently deceased beings. Several attacks on him, in which he was presumably already dead, were in vain because his servants always implanted his eye in a new body. He currently resides with his son Soichiro.

style

Tenjo Tenge is characterized by a very high quality and detailed drawing style. In addition to the elements of an action-heavy manga , there are also other genre elements , so the drawings are often very ecchi-heavy . This means that characters are often shown half-naked or in positions that suggest a sexual context. Particularly noticeable is the emphasis on certain physical attributes such as overly defined muscles in male characters or large breasts and long hair and legs in female characters.

In addition to the ecchi-heavy drawing style, Tenjo Tenge also offers other forms of fan service : At various points in the manga, historical and technical backgrounds are highlighted that are not important for the plot.
