history

China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co., Ltd. (CGNPC) was founded in September 1994 with a capital of 10.2 billion RMB with a core business area of nuclear power . With CGNPC as the central company, the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG) controls more than 20 subsidiaries in whole or in part.

In April 2009, a financing fund was launched by the CGNP which 1.03 billion US dollars to provide for nuclear energy and related projects. The fund was the first of a state-owned company with the approval of the State Council, involving the Bank of China and China Development Bank, as well as other institutions that will become shareholders in the fund. It is the first phase of funding for the fund, which will total RMB 10 billion.

In May 2013, the company changed its name to China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) to show that it also operates outside of Guangdong Province .

In December 2014, CGN raised $ 3 billion in its Hong Kong IPO .

In December 2014, the company announced that it would buy three wind farms in the UK with a total capacity of 73 MW from French company EDF for a sum in the range of £ 100 million .

During the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Great Britain in October 2015, a contract was signed after the group paid a sum of 6 billion British pounds (6.7 billion euros) to the total costs of 18 billion British pounds (20.1 billion euros) . Euro) will participate in the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant . The remaining costs are covered by the French group EDF.

Technology import and development

CGN's first nuclear power plant uses a reactor developed and built by the French company Framatome . Then CGN developed the pressurized water reactor CPR-1000, which is based on the French reactor. The CPR-1000 is an entirely Chinese development and is a type of reactor used very often in China.

In February 2007, CGN signed a contract with Areva to build the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant with Areva's European Pressurized Reactor . The Xianning nuclear power plant will use Westinghouse Electric AP1000 . This makes the company one of the first to build power plants with Generation III + reactors.
