Chip Robinson
Chip Robinson (born March 29, 1954 in Philadelphia ) is a former American racing driver .
Career
Chip Robinson was mainly active in the US IMSA-GTP sports car series . In 1987 he won the overall ranking in the GTP class in a Porsche 962 . In addition to numerous race wins in the championship - especially for the work team of Nissan and partner of Geoff Brabham - he won in 1987 , the 24 Hours of Daytona , and in 1989 the 12-hour race at Sebring . In Daytona he won together with Al Holbert , Derek Bell and Al Unser junior in a Porsche 962. He won the race in Sebring with Geoff Brabham and Arie Luyendyk in a Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo .
He competed four times in Le Mans ; best place was 13th overall in 1985. Some races - five in total - he also contested in the CART series , where a sixth place in Long Beach 1987 was his best individual result.
