Geoffrey "Geoff" Brabham (born March 20, 1952 in Sydney ) is a former Australian racing driver .

Career

Geoff Brabham is the eldest son of three-time Formula 1 world champion Jack Brabham . He has two younger brothers who also found their way into international racing. Gary , who has since ended his career, and David , who also drove in Formula 1 in the 1990s and is still active in sports car races. His son Matthew is also a racing driver.

Geoff Brabham celebrated his successes in racing almost exclusively in the USA. Between 1981 and 1994 he competed ten times in the Indianapolis 500 . His best result was fourth in the 1983 race. He won four times in a row (1988-1991) the overall ranking of the IMSA GTP series and in 1981 the overall ranking of the CanAm championship .

In 1993 he also won the Le Mans 24 Hours . He shared the cockpit of a Peugeot 905 with Éric Hélary and Christophe Bouchut . Geoff Brabham also drove in NASCAR and won the Bathurst 1000km race with his two brothers in his native Australia.

During his long career he was repeatedly involved in the V8 supercar racing series in Australia. Today, after the end of his motorsport career, he works as a driving trainer and instructor for BMW Australia. His son Matthew continues the family tradition in motorsport and is already successful in karting .

In 2004, Geoff Brabham was inducted into the Hall of Fame of US Motorsport.
