Chlorthiophos is an outdated plant protection product from the group of thiophosphoric acid esters , which was introduced as an insecticide by CH Boehringer Sohn / Cela GmbH around 1970 .
Extraction and presentation
During production, a reaction mass is created consisting of several isomeric compounds, the main component being O - (2,5-dichloro-4- (methylthio) phenyl) - O , O -diethylthiophosphate.
Isomers
The mixture of different structural isomers has different substitution patterns on the aromatic ring:
O - (2,5-dichloro-4- (methylthio) phenyl) - O , O -diethylthiophosphate (approx. 73%)
O - (4,5-dichloro-2- (methylthio) phenyl) - O , O -diethylthiophosphate (approx. 13%)
O - (2,4-dichloro-5- (methylthio) phenyl) - O , O -diethylthiophosphate (approx. 14%)
Admission
The World Health Organization has classified Chlorthiophos as a discontinued pesticide active ingredient since 2009.
No plant protection products containing this active ingredient are permitted in the EU or Switzerland .
