Christopher "Chris" Bailey (born March 26, 1962 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American animator and film director.

Life

Bailey attended CalArts' Character Animation Program from 1980 and then worked at Don Bluth Productions, where he animated video games on the computer. He became an animator at Disney Feature Animation in 1984 and has been involved with Arielle, the Mermaid and Bernard and Bianca in Kangaroo Land , among others . He also animated various music videos, including the one for Paula Abdul's single Opposites Attract and Mick Jagger's Hard Woman .

Bailey made his directorial debut in the short animated film Mickey Monster Mouse in 1995 , for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film . He has also directed ten episodes of the animated series Kim Possible and was nominated for an Emmy in 2003 as director and executive producer of the series . He has worked as a director or supervisor for animated characters in numerous real- life films, such as Inspector Gadget (1997), Garfield - The Movie (2004) and Alvin and the Chipmunks - The Movie (2007). After an extended stint as animation supervisor for 20th Century Fox , Bailey worked as a consultant for 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios . He teaches animation as a visiting professor at California Lutheran University, CalArts and the Vancouver Film School, among others.
