Christa Bertag

Christa Bertag née Christa Blank (born December 16, 1942 in Jecha (Sondershausen) ) was general director of VEB Kosmetik Kombinat Berlin from 1985 to 1990 and later managing director of the resulting Berlin Kosmetik GmbH . She was one of four women in the position of general director in the GDR .

Life

Bertag, the daughter of a worker and a porcelain lathe operator, graduated from the Workers and Farmers Faculty of the University of Halle in 1961 and then worked as a chemical specialist in the VEB Chemiekombinat Bitterfeld until 1962 . Then she took a degree at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg on which they graduate as 1967 chemist graduated. In 1957 she joined the FDJ and in 1965 the SED .

From 1967 to 1969 Bertag worked as a chemist, then until 1973 as a sector manager and from 1973/74 as the head of consumer goods production in the Leunawerke . From 1971 to 1974 she was a member of the FDJ district leadership in Halle (Saale) . From 1974 to 1977 Bertag studied at the Karl Marx party college of the SED and graduated as a social scientist. From 1977 to 1985 she was a political assistant in the basic industry department of the Central Committee (ZK) of the SED .

In 1985 Bertag became general director of VEB Kosmetik-Kombinat Berlin. After German reunification , the company was taken over by the Treuhandanstalt . Bertag remained with the company as managing director and, after the takeover by the American investors Agriculture and Industrial Trading Inc. (AIT) and Agrinde Overseas Inc., acted as chief operating officer . She later worked as a management consultant.
