Christa Dichgans

Christa Springer-Dichgans (born April 6, 1940 in Berlin ; † July 14, 2018 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist from the pop art movement.

Life

Dichgans studied painting at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

In 1966 she came to New York on a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation , but returned to Europe the following year and settled in Rome . Since 1972 she lived in Berlin and La Haute Carpénée in southern France. Between 1984 and 1988 she worked as an assistant to Georg Baselitz at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Christa Springer-Dichgans died at the age of 78 in her native town and was buried in the local cemetery in Zehlendorf (field 013-89).

Since 1967 there have been numerous solo exhibitions of her pictures, including in Berlin, New York, Paris , Venice , Buenos Aires , Zurich and Moscow, as well as several group exhibitions. She was one of nine artists in the pop art exhibition Power Up - Female Pop Art in the Kunsthalle Wien in winter 2010/2011.
