The Christian-von-Dohm-Gymnasium (CvD) is a state general education high school in Goslar in Lower Saxony with a modern language and mathematical-scientific branch.

history

In 1804 the Prussian administrative officer responsible for Goslar, Christian von Dohm , a supporter of Enlightenment ideas and in his publications advocate of Jewish emancipation, founded a school financed by school fees for “higher daughters”. Von Dohm was one of the most important reformers in the city's history; he brought about an economic upswing after decades of crisis and depression. In 1971, coeducation was introduced in the “Christian von Dohm School, New Language High School for Girls” ; H. since then boys have also been allowed to do their Abitur at the school. In 1975 the grammar school moved into the newly built "Goldene Aue" school center in the Baßgeige district . With the school reform in Lower Saxony in 2004, the number of pupils grew to around 1,500.

The following are offered as regular (voluntary) working groups: early music, choir, DELF (French language diploma), help from students, musicals, orchestras, brass , homepage, environment, youth training for the Olympics, mediation, Russian, youth research, school band, school medical service , School newspaper, technology, chemistry demonstrations and other scientific working groups.

The grammar school participates in the Comenius program of the European Union and is an official European school . The CvD maintains a partnership with the Clausthal University of Technology . The “Dohmianer” alumni association connects the school's graduates. The school, which has been further developed into an all-day school, has recently had a canteen and a self-study center.

  • 2010 Special prize from the Federal President for a “Jugend forscht” work in the chemistry category

The grammar school had several minor victories in the Jugend forscht competition .
