Christian Bachner

Christian Bachner (born March 23, 1970 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( saxophone , composition , also clarinet , flute ) and operator of a recording studio.

Bachner, whose younger brother is the trombonist Robert Bachner , received musical foundations from his parents. From 1989 he studied jazz saxophone at the Vienna Conservatory ; In 1993 he went to New School University in New York for a year, where he was trained by Dave Liebman , Bill Evans and Dewey Redman .

Bachner taught from 1990 to 2005 at the Upper Austria State Music School in Linz. In addition, he played in the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Big Band Graz , with whom he recorded several albums, as well as with the Vienna Art Orchestra . He formed his own trio with Herman Linecker and Gerald Endstrasser; it also worked as a quartet supplemented by Gerold Mayer, who released the album Looking Back in 2001 . He has also appeared internationally with Kenny Wheeler , Johnny Griffin , Bobby Shew , Ron McClure , Michael Gibbs , Jack Walrath , Django Bates , Patti Austin and the New York Voices and can also be heard on Karin Bachner 's albums.

Bachner wrote compositions for Juvavum Brass , Duo Tone Art, Heavy Tuba & Jon Sass and the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra .
