Christian Essig (born January 24, 1986 in Rastatt ) is a German football player .
Career
In his youth, Essig played for FC Rastatt 04 and Karlsruher SC . In the 2004/05 season he played for the KSC in the A-Jugend-Bundesliga Süd / Südwest , but was also used several times in the U-23 team in the Oberliga. The second team rose to the Regionalliga Süd and Essig was taken over into the team. In the first year he did not get beyond the role of substitute. In the 2006/07 season he played regularly in the first half of the season , in nine of his 17 missions he was on the starting line-up. In the winter break, however, he moved back to the league for promotion aspirants SV Sandhausen . With the club he also managed to return to the regional league, but this time he was only a substitute.
In 2008 he moved to 1. FC Heidenheim , with whom he was champion of the Regionalliga Süd in his first season and was promoted to the 3rd division . He made his professional debut on July 25, 2009, when he was on the starting line-up in the 2-2 draw against Wuppertaler SV Borussia on the first day of the 2009/10 season . He played a good first half of the season and was part of the first team, but injuries kept coming up in the second half of the season. The next season also started with a setback: In preparation, he tore his inner ligament. He then fought for the connection the entire season and only made 15 substitutions in the end. In the 2011/12 season he played a good preliminary round again, but only played once in the second half. On May 30, 2012, 1. FC Heidenheim announced that Essig would leave the club.
For the 2012/13 season Essig moved to SV Babelsberg 03 . After his relegation from the 3rd division , he moved in 2013 to the Bavarian regional league team FV Illertissen . Since 2015 he has played in the Württemberg Association League at 1. FC Normannia Gmünd .
