Christian Feit
Christian Feit (born October 21, 1921 in Breslau ; † September 10, 2017 in Bonn ) was a German diplomat .
Life
After serving in the war, he studied law in Hamburg from 1945 and was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. He was one of the co-founders of the Hamburger Junge Union . In 1951 he joined the Foreign Service. He was 1952-1954 in the US vice consul in New York, Detroit and Houston. After working as an economic attache in Valparaiso in Chile in 1954/55, he worked several times in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1955–1958; 1963–1968; 1974–1983). In Madrid he was first secretary of the embassy. From 1969 and 1974 he headed the political department of the German embassy in Paris . From 1983 to 1986 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Brussels .
He was married to Gabriele von Below since 1950 and has four children. Feit was a legal knight of the Order of St. John . He has received several awards at home and abroad.
Spiegel Affair
From 1958 to 1963 Christian Feit was legation counselor and head of the legal department of the German embassy in Madrid. Feit accompanied the military attaché Achim Oster as legal advisor when Oster was supposed to arrange for Conrad Ahlers to be arrested. He then looked after the Ahlers until they left for Germany.
