Christian Friedrich Petzold

Christian Friedrich Petzold (also: Pezold ; * July 29, 1743 in Wiedemar ; † December 29, 1788 in Leipzig ) was a German logician and Protestant theologian.

Life

Petzold attended the grammar school in Delitzsch and the state school Pforta . Then he took up studies at the University of Leipzig , where in 1767 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophical sciences. In the same year he became vespers preacher at the university church . In 1771 he became a baccalaureus in theology and early preacher at the university church. As a result, he gave lectures on philosophical and theological topics and made a name for himself as a writer.

In 1774 he became associate professor of philosophy and in 1782 full professor of logic. In 1787 he received his doctorate in theology. He also took part in the organizational tasks of the Leipzig University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semester of 1787 .
