Christian Hoffstadt

Christian Hoffstadt (born December 10, 1972 in Essen ) is a German publisher of scientific book series; Freelance consultant and trainer in the areas of change and leadership. He was the managing director of two central university institutions for the promotion of young scientists in Karlsruhe and Tübingen .

Life

Christian Hoffstadt finished his school years at the Maria Königin secondary school in Altenhundem with the Abitur. From 1995 to 2002 he studied philosophy and literature at the University of Karlsruhe . He earned his MA with his master's thesis on what is deconstruction ? After completing his studies, Hoffstadt was a research assistant at the German-Russian College in Karlsruhe (DRKK) to promote Russian postgraduates . (The college, which operated from 1995 to 2006, was founded on the basis of a verbal note exchanged between the states of Russia and Germany .)

Hoffstadt received his doctorate in 2008 with Hans-Peter Schütt at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) with the subject of "Thinking Spaces" and "Thinking Movements". Investigations into the metaphorical use of the language of space .

After a teaching position at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , Christian Hoffstadt has been a speaker at the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) since October 2009. The KHYS is a communication and interaction platform for all young scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology ; it is aimed at both doctoral and post- doctoral students . Hoffstadt was later coordinator of the Graduate Academy of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen, but in 2015 decided to work as a freelance change consultant.

Research areas

In cooperation with various scientists, Christian Hoffstadt founded and carried out a total of three scientific book series and one series of events from 2012 to 2015: Aspects of Medical Philosophy (series of events discontinued in 2015, series of books expires in 2016), comedy and violence. Comic and violence. Comique et violence (expires in 2016), Postapocalytic Studies (discontinued in 2014). A scientific series on the subject of change management is planned with the name Think - Do - Change.

Together with his editorial colleagues Franz Peschke, Andreas Schulz-Buchta and Michael Nagenborg, Christian Hoffstadt has continued the series Aspects of Medical Philosophy founded by Klaus Reichert and himself since 2002 . The editorial collective holds annual symposia . These events open a space in which representatives of medicine , psychology , psychoanalysis and the humanities and social sciences can enter into a dialogue.

In 2008 Christian Hoffstadt - together with Sabine Müller, Anne Peiter and Andreas Böhn - founded a research project on comedy and violence . The first volume of the trilingual series was published in 2011 under the title Sick Humor . The authors refer to the research of the American ethnologist Alan Dundes , who came to the conclusion that sick humor could break down sociopolitical taboos .
