Michael Hornek
Michael Hornek (born October 5, 1977 in Hall in Tirol , Austria ) is an Austrian jazz pianist and music producer .
Live and act
Michael Hornek began taking piano lessons at the age of five. When he was fifteen, he began studying classical piano at the Innsbruck Conservatory as a young student . From 1996 he studied jazz piano at the conservatory in Linz . In 2000 he became a keyboardist with the Austrian brass ensemble Pro Brass . After studying in New York City and giving concerts with Nouvelle Cousine and Bumi Fian , in 2006 he founded the band Yumag together with Peter O'Mara , Patrick Scales and Christian Lettner , with which he released the CD “Live in Congress”. In 2004 he produced the record "Jung und Schön" by the Swiss actress and singer Maria Bill, who lives in Vienna . Since 2008 he has been a permanent member of the band Soleil Bantu of the percussionist Biboul Darouiche . In 2009 he became a permanent member of Klaus Doldingers Passport .
Prizes and awards
In 1994, in a duo with Patrick Lechner, he was a special prize winner from the State of Tyrol at the “Prima La Musica” competition. In 2001 he won the Hans Koller Scholarship , which enabled him to study in New York.
